What is World Environmental Health Day?

September 26th is World Environmental Health Day (also known as World EH Day). The day was created by the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) back in 2011. Every year the IFEH announces a theme for World Environmental Health Day as a means of bringing attention to the largest environmental health risks we face today.

What is the theme of World Environmental Health Day for 2020?

With environmental health being a key branch of public health, understandably the coronavirus pandemic is a central focus for the IFEH this year. Accordingly, the 2020 theme is ‘Environmental health, a key public health intervention in disease pandemic prevention’.

How can you get involved?

If you’re interested in learning more about World Environmental Health Day and getting involved with the initiatives, head to the IFEH website. Here you can find schedules of all the online events taking place, so you can take your pick. Otherwise why not get involved with World Environmental Health Day yourself? Publishing an article or even a short video can raise essential awareness.

How we support the environment everyday

Here at TXO we have been helping companies to address sustainability goals and take control of their resources since 2005. As the no.1 alternative to the OEM, we extend the lifespan of telecom networking equipment. In addition, our end-to-end asset recovery service ensures that clients recover maximum value from their surplus equipment – whether through repair, resale, reuse or recycling. All of which we are experts in.

If we obtain equipment that can’t be reused by the client or resold to other end users it is broken down into different WEEE and non-WEEE recycling streams, and any hazardous material is removed. We currently recycle over 98% of all materials recovered with the aim of achieving a zero waste target.

Our end-to-end approach keeps any potential electronic waste (e-waste) in use for as long as possible and avoids parts being scrapped and ending up in landfill. Every year our recycling activities keep 1,200 tonnes of waste material out of landfill and back in commercial use.
