Here at TXO, we take a lot of care to hand-pick people to join us that share our enthusiasm and commitment to go the extra mile for our customers. So it makes us super happy to welcome Joss Reed to TXO.

Working closely with our shipping and logistics team, it’s up to Joss to ensure all our imports and exports worldwide run like clockwork.

When did you join TXO and can you describe your typical week?

I joined in the last few months, so I am still getting settled in. Ensuring we deliver in a way that minimises delays and is compliant with the UK and international export laws is what my role is all about. My typical week will look at reviewing any shipments that require the use of open general export licences (OGELs), applying for licences for those that need them, providing information on what may be required when trading with more challenging countries, and ensuring we have all the records we require for a successful audit.

We know you’re a guru on export & compliance. We’d love to learn some more about it.

In a nutshell, it involves looking at which items are controlled for export and ensuring we have the correct licences. For us at TXO this falls under dual-use items, those that can be used for military and civilian purposes. We have to look at where we are sending the item and who will be using it to determine which licence is best suited.

What is it that you love about what we do?

I love the fact that we help companies be sustainable. We need to get more into the habit of repairing and reusing items rather than a throwaway culture.

What do you like about working at TXO?
  1. Being able to make changes quickly
  2. It’s a new challenge – the industry is new to me and so I’m learning every day at the moment
  3. Everyone I’ve met so far has been super friendly
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I lived in Vietnam for a year while working as an English teacher. It was part of a larger trip that lasted 20 months in total and included South Africa, most of Asia and South America.

What are your favourite flavour crisps?

Sweet chilli and red pepper Kettle Chips.

If you were our CEO for the day, what one change would you bring about?

I would bring in changing rooms and showers so people can cycle to work.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

I love all things to do with cycling, so either out on my road bike or mountain biking. I am also a photographer so will be either taking pictures of the rides or photographing weddings.

Which of our brand values resonates with you the most? And why?

Dynamic – I like to believe I am a good problem solver and always want to try to find a way to do a task rather than just say it can’t be done.

What’s your funniest TXO memory?

None as of yet but I’m looking forward to making many in the future.

Great getting to know Joss. He’s only been here a few months and is already making a hugely positive impact on our shipping procedures and processes. If there’s someone from team TXO who you’d like us to feature in an upcoming Life with TXO interview drop us an email at [email protected]
