We’re excited to share the start of our brand new online series called Life at TXO. Here we will interview different members of the team to give you the inside scoop on what it’s like to work at TXO and for you to get to know us on a more personal level.

March 8th, 2021 marks International Women’s Day so what better way to kick off our new series than by catching up on a videocall with two very influential women in the TXO team – Sales Operations Manager, Lisa Knight and Senior Account Manager, Eleanor (aka Ellie) Tadman.

Both Lisa and Ellie are core members of our team and have been for years. Here’s what they had to say about their life in and outside of TXO…

When did you join TXO and can you describe your typical week?

Lisa: I joined TXO back in November 2012. A typical week for me consists of managing/coaching and working with my team to ensure we are always top of our game, offering the best customer support we can and exceeding our set targets.

Ellie: I joined TXO on the 10th July 2008 so have been here nearly 13 years! When I joined I was employee number 6 in the company – needless to say a lot has changed since then as the company has evolved and grown. My typical week is selling – quoting, negotiating and everything else that goes with it! Having worked here so long I have a number of clients I have worked with for over 10 years so enjoy the professional relationships I have built up over the years as well as creating new ones.

How has your career progressed since working at TXO?

Lisa: Back in 2012 I started at TXO as a Junior Business Development Manager on a sales desk of 5 others tasked with opening new regions and verticals. I moved up the ranks quite quickly before being promoted to a Senior Account Manager. I stayed in this position until I fell pregnant with my daughter, whilst on maternity leave an opportunity for a Sales Op’s manager emerged which caught my eye. I was ready for a new challenge and have never looked back.

Ellie: My day to day role has been pretty much the same throughout, but as the size, scale and resource of TXO has grown so has the size of the opportunities and projects we are able to participate in.

What do you like about working at TXO?

Lisa: It’s a fun and flexible place to work, TXO makes it easy to be a full-time working mum with a high-pressured job.

Ellie: I have worked with many of my colleagues for a number of years so we have a lot of funny things to reminisce about – there are lots of great “one of a kind” characters at TXO! It’s also been great to see friends stepping into management positions in the company.

What is it that you love about what we do?

Lisa: Watching members of my team succeed. For me there is nothing more rewarding than watching them achieve personal and professional goals.

Ellie: I like the “green” credentials of the company and the circular economy vision – that is something that is important to me and something people are finally starting to pay attention to.

If you were our CEO for the day, what one change would you bring about?

Lisa: I think I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Ellie: I would like to see more women on the SMT/board at TXO.

What’s your favourite flavour crisps?

Lisa: Thai chilli sensations! I am currently expecting my second child and they pretty much make a daily appearance.

Ellie: Anything sour cream & chive.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

Lisa: These days my weekends start very early due to my very energetic 23-month-old, we love to play, dance, sing and walk our gorgeous two poochies, Reggie and Roo.

Ellie: Cycling, paddle boarding or drinking wine.

Which of our brand values resonates with you the most? And why?

Lisa: Of our values, being focused resonates with me. Being focused on your aspirations plays a huge part in achieving them.

Ellie: The green aspect of what we do – as Tim Smith says, we cannot just keep making more and more things and then throwing them away – I am in full agreement with this sentiment.

Thank you to Lisa and Ellie for featuring in our new series, Life at TXO. Keep your eyes peeled for more interviews with the rest of our team coming soon.
